DO OR DIE
me too homie, but my peoples are all Caribbean and grits just wasnt on the menu. Might be something that southern Blacks brought up with them but not Caribbeans

Idk what island your fam from but my Haitian friends are up on mais moulin and I know South Africans have pap I assume French Africans have it too, dif name. Italians even have polenta but on that :mjpls:Like they have no black history...

It's all just cornmeal with some combo of butter, milk and seasoning. I would assume it's universal for working people cuz it's filling and simple.

I grew up in Philly only 2 hours away and grits are a staple. Try any trendy casual restaurant in BK like General Greene, Catfish, Peaches Hothouse, Pies n Thighs and you will find done up grits or any down home soul food spot in Harlem. Cheddar cheese, hot sauce, shrimp all good add-ons.

I ain't even from NY but I don't believe this. Every black family has a box of grits in their cabinet.

I eat grits damn near every morning. I love grits.

My moms makes dinner grits sometimes with shrimp, green onions, and bacon and cheese in them :ohlawd: they are so good.

I just make regular butter grits in the morning and eat them with two sausage patties.

Yes motherfukker. In the north east, New York in particular, bagels are a popular breakfast staple. In the late 19th-early 20th century, Polish Jews brought them over and many bagel shops opened up throughout the growing city. It became lucrative for these shop owners and the shape/dimensions of a bagel (like donuts) made it easy to transport and eat on the go during the commute.

I couldn't imagine someone walking around with a hand full of runny, grainy grits like a fukking Cro-Magnon
