Dirk has ALWAYS been a team guy and he was great when the team won the 'chip in '11.
He was heavily criticized by some fans & media when he took the huge paycut last year. At one point two years cuban even offered to trade dirk to a contender & he refused. He also said in the upcoming season he said he would come off the bench if it would help improve the team by getter better, younger players. Dude is the epitome of loyal.
It's not his fault deandre didn't come and I can't blame cuban for a lack of effort but I believe because of this dirk may retire sooner rather than later. The mavs will be competing for a 8th seed at best. Even when jordan was coming here, I said he was a better defensive version of chandler but nothing great.
We don't have a PG & both matthews & parsons have had the same surgery & neither will be as good as they were before. Also parsons sucked last year even before the injury.
2 out of the last 3 years I've been a season ticket holder and I'm sure emails will go out soon asking fans to keep their season tickets at a "reduced low cost". I salute cuban for trying to put the best team out and not tank like philly but the inevitable is here.
Why compete for a 8th seed & a mid level draft pick. In '98 we drafted 9th & had a choice between pierce & dirk. We need to find the next superstar so why not try via early pick. It's pass the point of making dirk the focal point and trying to compete for a title.

Actually it was the opposite; he was applauded, praised, and championed for that shyt. Now, I'm sure the players didn't like that shyt. I believe Kobe may have spoke out against it, but the media never criticized him. Dirk has been a media darling ever since that championship, and him taking that pay cut only made them love him more.
