This is embarrassing for anyone who was a cop or is a cop.
A former Chesapeake police officer was sentenced Friday for embezzlement charges, some related to prostitution.
Michael Mobley, 30, was sentenced to one year in prison with 11 months suspended, one month to serve, according to Nancy Parr with the Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Parr also confirmed Mobley’s two embezzlement charges stem from him taking money from prostitutes and using his badge to embezzle money.
Mobley was arrested in November 2012 while employed as a Chesapeake police officer, according to Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department. At the time, he had been employed by the city for five years and been on administrative leave without pay for about four months while the department conducted an investigation.
O’Sullivan confirmed Mobley resigned from the police department in February of this year.
Mobley is allowed to serve his time in prison during consecutive weekends, Parr said.
