Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance (Switch, PS4)

Been marathoning this game to make it through the story. I only made it to chapter 5 in a couple days. It's solid. In terms of story it's right up there with Disgaea 3. I'd say 4 is a bit better.

I'd rank them 1, 2, 4, 5, 3. I never played D2 even though I own it. Will probably play that one next.

Killia sucks as a main character though. He's about as bland as Adell.

I never saw Adell as bland because of the characters surrounding him.

Killia is the same, surrounded by a pretty good cast, but I don't think his backstory is as interesting as Adell's

I wouldn't make this my first one. Its really not for everyone. You might get turned off by it quickly. Make sure you check out a few videos first before spending any money on it. Its not a traditional RPG.

Said I wouldn't cop earlier in thread but did pretty shortly after release along with MGS5. grinding for max stats now, just got my first carnage trap and have been Land Decimating nikkaz like crazy to power it up. Amazed I still have fun with it when I skip like EVERY animation. fukking ridiculous how long some of them are

^^ too lazy/drunk to quote, but dude wondering if he'd like this if he doesn't play JRPGs, shyt is a strategy RPG. If you're expecting some normal old school Final Fantasy ish, it is nothing like that, more like Final Fantasy Tactics/Shining Force/etc. You move your nikkas around on a grid akin to a chess board and have to make.more tactical decisions for combo attacks, power ups, and all that good shyt

It has a learning curve and if you get into it it's super addictive. Disgaea games are 200+ hours easily though. Watch the vids, watch some PS4 Broadcasts and try the demo.

I played the demo and didn't know wtf was going on the art style is sooo lit though I wash there was a cowboy bebop game

Yea the Demo is kinda bad at telling new players wtf is going on. I started with D2 and it took me hours to understand every little thing. The game is a strat RPG so you gotta hunt through menus and talk to a lot of NPCs to figure out how everything clicks.

Disgaea art style always been lit. The PS2 games were damn good looking for their time.

Disgaea 1 is. If it does well I'd imagine this one would. PS4 to PC ports are supposedly relatively easy.

Yeah I've already beaten disgaea 1. I've been itching to play a new disgaea game for awhile now
