"Disney Adults" are individuals, often millennials, who exhibit a strong, passionate, and frequently financial obsession with Disney products, parks, and characters.
millennials are old enough now to get into the phenomenon and give it a name but disney adults started with boomers. my grandmother's 'white' best friend was one. both were executives at a national bank. we'd go visit her friend and her friend's house was decorated on the outside and inside with disney characters. the gate to her driveway had the iron outline of mickey's face similar to this....
disney tchotchkes from floor to ceiling everywhere around the house. custom made disney character woodwork and stained glass windows.
then had a mickey mouse shaped pool.
and of course, a disney timeshare that they went to like five times a year. by the time my parents started taking us to visit disney (staying at her timeshare) when i was ten, i had no interest cuz disney was gail's house fa me.
the particular obsession with theme parks always seemed to be a boomer/gen x thing. hollywood movies like national lampoon and their obsession with wallyworld or the movie clifford and the obsession with dinosaur world pokes fun at that phenomenon. millennials being old enough, and chasing nostalgia, are now just coming into the fold.
