It’s more virtue signaling from Disney though. The origin of the ships name even makes sense in universe. It’s not like he was a slave master or something lol.

The switch up is for kids toys. Supposedly the original name will be kept in canon for adult content like books and films.
As far as the attempts at slow erasure of "slave" from common use...that's a huge ocean, and no matter how high they build the dikes they'll never have enough fingers. This is the folly you built, and you're not about to just toss the tools and "forget" anything.
