There is a separate trademark on Mickey Mouse as a brand, that forbids anyone from using him in a way that would lead someone to think it’s a Disney product. Anyone who uses Steamboat Willie is going to have a mountain of litigation on their hands because of that. Even changing Mickey from being silent, to having a voice is gonna get lawyers on your ass.
