Disney should have remade Dune instead.

I feel like Dune would have been better for what Disney is trying to do with Star Wars. I feel like the heavy matriarchal themes within the story of Dune would fit perfectly with what Disney is trying to do with their current films. Star wars is not an exclusively Male saga at all and the franchise has produced some of the greatest female characters in Sci Fi history. With that being said the themes in Star Wars have always been patriarchal. Darth Vader literally means Dark Father. The prequel and OG trilogies are about a Fathers fall from grace and his son redeeming him.

Dune on the other hand is about a Mother who has to protect and mentor her messianic son so he can fulfill his destiny and end a war that killed his father.

Lady Jessica is a better hero and character than Rey. I just think Disney would have done better with Dune since they seem to want stories with strong female leads.

You do know WB has the rights and is already doing this in 2020 right?

I've heard about it and I just think that Disney would do better with it. I feel like in a way they are unintentionally trying to make Star Wars into Dune.

What led you to that conclusion? Blade Runner 2049 >> Disney Star wars

Word is George Lucas was inspired by Frank Herbert for star wars

Yeah I heard that too. The stories have similar elements but their themes are different. Dune with the matriarchal Bene gessirit order and Star Wars with the patriarchal Jedi order.

:stopitslime:pirates is as silly as it gets and how they butchered Star Wars I'll pass on them doing Dune
Pirates has silly moments but it also has dark moments. Besides Dune could use some light heartedness in certain spots. That's why the 80s movie wasn't well received. Too serious

The remake is being handled by Denis Villenueve, it'll be dope.

What? :mjlol:

That had nothing to do with why the 80's movie wasn't well received. The movie was ambitious as hell but in the end it was a borderline nonsensical mess.

Modern Disney wouldn't touch Jessica with a 10 foot pole. They'd change the whole concept of the Bene Gesserit just to avoid her and Leto being in an open marriage, none of that selective breeding for centuries shyt

No allegory to the spice being supercoke with all the bells and whistles

No God Emperor Leto fukking over the universe for a few thousand years and shyt being better for it

No angry fat blimp people

they'd prolly have spice armor Leto toys and shyt, duncan idaho toys :russ:
