This is a really baffling choice for a podcast guest, and I'm disappointed with the decision. It seems like Harris is still upset about the discussion w/ Ezra Klein, and needed a token to regurgitate his views back to him and his audience. What's most disappointing is the absolute ball washing I listened to Harris give Coleman, even though Coleman's views aren't particularly interesting or new ... and as another poster pointed out, often leaves out important historical context.

I get that it's hard to talk to people you don't agree with, and that no one likes being accused of racism. But to have this no-name kid on to talk about the harmful effects of affirmative action and gangster rap is downright patronizing. I would have much rather him spoke with, say, a Cornel West or Marc Lamont Hill, so at least there's some pretense of scholarship and expertise. I'm not even saying I fundamentally disagree with Coleman broader points ... but the optics on this are all wrong for Harris.
He legit called Coates a pornographer of race.

Sam Harris is a complete hoe for that.

I remember when dudes was d*ckriding Harris and the other prominent New Atheists years ago, but are now shocked that he makes so many bad faith arguments.

News flash: Harris has never changed. His generalizations about religion (Christianity in particular) are just as bad as his generalizations about race, racial intelligence, and left-leaning politics.

This. He is a qualified, consistent, meaningful voice on literally nothing. As I pointed out in an earlier thread, moral philosophers mock his morality arguments and shoot them full of holes, theologians mock his religious arguments and shoot them full of holes, historians mock his historical arguments and shoot them full of holes, scientists make his scientific "achievements" and shoot them full of holes...there is literally no field in which he can claim to be well respected expect in collecting fanboys and "owning the XXXX" where XXXX is whoever his fanboys don't like and are pre-primed to be biased against when Harris rants against them.

It shouldn't even have come to race. Any good-faith and informed observer should have ditched Harris when he started publishing bad-faith books about religion or got completely owned by Chomsky on the morality of historical U.S. actions.
