it's by design. Social Engineering did a number on us.
We, as a whole, can't see it because
1. We're trained to only see the "big" picture in 1-3 year blocks. It used to be 5-10, but that number gets shorter with every successful benchmark. Made a few posts about the benchmark shyt ages ago, when it was a bigger time gap. I'd have to dig to find them. Hell, it may be a year to 6 months now.
2. Nobody complains about a system they benefit from. We're taught our rewards in life are money, sex, and a shortcut to an easy life. Not the easy life, mind you, but the shortcut to one. All the while, the system is designed to make us miserable so we spend money. And we spend a lot.
So early on, yeah. It's great, if you fall into it. You reap those benefits, you don't complain. Procreate and get money. You judge life partners by the benefits, not their character.
But as you get older, you start weighing that partner's character against their/your baggage and expectations. What they bring to the table don't matter. They feel the same way. When it's just you and them in a room or a bed together, or even just you.... them benefits don't matter if you can't do more than tolerate this person.
Past that point, either shyt falls apart or you're miserable and spending money to fix it.... and it falls apart.
and yes, I could go into each genders parts in this, but who wanna read all this shyt. Nobody with a 1 year to 6 month big picture view, I assure you.
