This is pretty valid point. You can spend an extra $300 have some home cooked food with a few family and friends. Another 300 to do a honeymoon over a 3 day weekend at the a nearby beach hotel or casino ........ oh shiit I forgot about that cotdamn diamond ring ... .

Point is...the only thing "required" for legal marriage are those government papers. Everything else, although great to have is auxiliary. So if you want to start a marriage and build something when you can't have a fancy ceremony at the beginning, you can do that.

Otherwise, men aren't doing it for whatever reasons....

I always found this funny every single mother was not sitting on 5 dikks at a time when she got pregnant but their relationships aren't set in stone (marriage).
