I think that Snoop shyt annoyed Kendrick for a lot of reasons but a big one was the thing the entire battle was about: culture. A lot of us said it at the time: Taylor Made was a massive mistake because it gave Kendrick the option to rally the west coast. It was a gift. And while Kendrick was presumably coming up with what eventually became Not Like Us, Snoop peeked out and displayed ambiguity. I don't think Snoop had to say "fukk Drake" btw. I wouldn't have advised it either. But at the very least if an outsider uses your voice (via AI) to diss a west coast rapper you gotta say that shyt is wack and leave me out of it. Instead he left the door open for questions.

And yes, I def think Kendrick baited a lot of this shyt masterfully. He got Drake to enter the "culture" discussion. Just like he got Drake to lean into the race shyt on Family Matters, starting with that cringeworthy nikka shyt with his mom at the beginning of the track. Not to mention the "free the slaves" line which clearly was the most popular bar of the battle to his (racist) white stans on twitter.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. Kendrick is unbeatable. For one simple fact. He’s the best songmaker in the game. So even if he battles another guy who is great at battle rapping. He can just turn them into a club banger like he did Aubrey and it’s over.

There’s prolly a handful of guys who can make a euphoria type track. A 6:16 in LA. MAYBE even a Meet the Grahams. But there's no other rapper on the planet who could have made "Not Like Us"....and that's the song that really worries these guys. What if they step into that ring with Kendrick and end up with the whole world dancing on their grave too?....if the biggest rapper in the game couldn't recover what chance do they have?

Kendrick showed the whole rap game that it's much deeper than just dope lyrics. And that's what most of these battle rappers don't understand. Even Lupe got quiet after the fact and claimed he didn't hear any of the beef songs like a p*ssy boy. Cause now he fully understands he never stood a chance either. You can't beat a guy who can make songs like Kendrick but also match you with bars. His skillset is too strong. Kendrick was dead on when he called himself Terence Crawford. Cause bud can beat you on some slick technical shyt, but he can also beat you to a pulp and have the whole crowd going crazy. Same way Kendrick did Aubrey. He dog walked that boy in every style possible. These other rappers want no parts of that.

And that’s why these lower tier rappers are lowkey side eyeing Kendrick right now because he took out their cash cow. Drake was their meal ticket to get ahead. That Drake stimulus package helped out a lot of folks and some of those artist still looked to him for that look out.

If they too soft to handle being name dropped by Kendrick in a harmless manner then getting into a battle with him definitely would be too much for them already
