DJ Drama’s got a new job. According to Billboard, the mixtape maven was recently appointed to an A&R position at Atlantic Records. Based in Atlanta, Drama’s duties will include cultivating emerging and existing acts. His newly built Means Street Studios will also serve as a hub for artists on the roster.

”My first two albums as an artist were on Atlantic. And I’m now looking forward to working with Craig and Julie [Atlantic chairman/COO Greenwald] in a new capacity, helping them break the label’s next crop of amazing talent.”

And Don Cannon over at Def Jam. They building a studio in the Mecca of HipHop (Atlanta) and will be churning out artists who will be using that facility to record etc.

What y'all think the outcome gonna be?

Isn't Jeezy the vice president?
Last night (Aug. 8) the 'net went wild with reports that Young Jeezy had just been named senior vice president of A&R at Atlantic Records, and this morning those rumors were confirmed by the rapper himself.

Taking to his Twitter page today (Aug. 9), Jeezy acknowledged his new position -- in a message that was also retweeted by Atlantic -- by saying "From the streets to the Boardroom. SVP of A&R at Atlantic Records I am. Let's Get it!"

The news was reportedly broken by DJ Greg Street of V103 out of Atlanta, and was confirmed by Jeezy's production coordinator DJ Folk last night.

Jeezy's latest album, "TM103: Hustlaz Ambition," came out last December on Def Jam.

Hip-hop artist DJ Drama has joined the A&R staff at Atlantic Records. Based in Atlanta, he will oversee recording projects, sign new talent and contribute to the artist development process for existing talent on the Atlantic roster. In addition, DJ Drama's newly established Means Street Studios in Atlanta will become the studio base for Atlantic artists while in the market.

In a statement announcing the appointment, Atlantic chairman/CEO Craig Kallman said, "One of the most accomplished DJs and mixtape masters, DJ Drama brings brilliant instincts and consummate skills to our A&R team. A hugely influential force in the hip-hop community, I know he'll be a tremendous asset in signing and developing artists and making amazing records."

Stated DJ Drama, "My first two albums as an artist were on Atlantic. And I'm now looking forward to working with Craig and Julie [Atlantic chairman/COO Greenwald] in a new capacity, helping them break the label’s next crop of amazing talent."

I don't know what Jeezy is doing as SVP of A&R:ing when all the artists, producers etc he fukks with and "puts on" are at Universal/Def Jam/Roc Nation including himself.

They probably gave him that shyt to try as a gift to get his signature when his Def Jam shyt runs out.
