Of course.That's how every episode of American Greed goes. Someone lies about some shyt, people believe them. Some of he early people only slightly believe them, so they dip their toe, and then get returns of like 100+% on the first try, then their on the hook.
The ones that would be difficult to spot are the ones that tell you your returns will be in line with what any normal financial advisor would tell you and they seemingly live modestly. Everybody that scams is funding some extravagant lifestyle
If you just wanted to live a regular life there’s no point in doing crime because the risk is too high for a reward that you could get by just getting an average job.
It’s easy to understand why people fall for scams though. Most people are lazy, can’t think long term or commit to anything, so any get rich/thin/etc quick scheme is gonna work if the seller has enough charisma.
