Nah I’m fukkin with you. I’m actually inclined to agree with you.

He was radio DJ. Plenty of radio DJs don’t make beats
his lawsuit against cash money records makes it seem like he did more than be a DJ since he was demanding "mechanical royalties" which typically go to writers, composers, or publishers...

Breh, I will definitely admit I’m wrong if I’m wrong. But I need to see evidence if the video out there. I strongly believe he don’t actually make beats. I’ll admit I was wrong, but I don’t trust this man and need some visual proof lol

I was just fukkin around. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right about the ghost producer thing

Yeah the writers on the song own the publishing. The producer usually gets 50% and is credited as a writer cause they technically write the music. Then the artist gets the rest. Then if it’s a sample, whoever owns that is gonna get a good amount, so the other splits will change.

But in the industry, people get production credit all the time without actually doing shyt on the song. Just because if their relationships or access. Like if someone has a relationship with Drake and can shop my beats, and drake wants one, he may want a percentage of the publishing. And most people will be like fukk it, cause they would never have that opportunity without that connection. Khaled got multiple producers under him, so I suspect they make the beats, and he just get his split cause he got all the contacts.

I might be inclined to agree…because with his connections, persistence and social climbing skills you’d think it’d be next to impossible he wouldn’t force his beats onto some high profile projects on some swizz shyt…or how Busta was getting feature placements a decade plus removed from his prime through pure force of will….that’d be worth millions over the years on top of what he makes middle-manning or table setting or whatever it is he does exactly

i think in order to stop being a DJ, he had to make at least some beats. then once he created his label, he would be able to get production credit without doing much work.

Based off of his track record and the artists he gets to make records, he clearly gets it. Cant say if he can make beats or not but I’d put my money he knows the basics but he’s just not good at creating whats in his brain. He has huge visions which cant be carried out by him alone sitting on an MPC all day. Not that it’s impossible but thats too small of a vision.

Everything he said about producers vs beatmakers is correct. Its basically describing Puff. Beat makers make beats, Producers carry out visions. They build a team of beatmakers, bring in musicians, write, have ideas, paint the picture, etc. Again, based on Khaled’s track record you have to be naive to think all he does is scream his name on the song and all these legends are ok with that :russ:

Honestly, all that shyt is irrelevant to the topic. I never seen him make a beat, although he claims he can. I think he lying. It’s strictly about if this man is lying about being able to make beats. I think it’s super odd I’ve seen him do every single thing else on video beside touch a pad. All that vision shyt is a subject for another topic. I have strong feelings on that too. I think that skill is wild overrated. Not to say him or puff don’t have it, but how hard is it to say get these top artist on a song with the hot r&b person on the hook? Not hard at all. However, I think the true skill is being in the position to be able to make it happen....not actually saying these people should do a song over this beat. I’m sorry, but that’s not some genius level skill. It’s a skill that most people don’t get to exercise. But this is strictly about Khaled physically making beats.

To stay on topic as you mentioned, someone would have come out already and said he doesnt know how to make beats. And it literally takes a few hours to figure out how to technically make a beat. You probably wont be good at it but you can technically program a beat, its not rocket science and thats why its not far fetched. I believe he knows how to make beats but he’s prolly just not that good at it...
