Driver's Seat is crazy.
Driver's Seat is crazy.
Just listened to a few cuts nothing in-depth it sounds ok Muggs needs to hop off the minimalist production
not saying itβs wack but this wave of picking samples and not chopping them up is getting out of pocket
I'm definitely ready for more variety.
It's a shameless plug, but check Khrysis' album dropping next month. There's a lot of guests ranging from early 90's to modern. It's an album for the jeeps. Hard, punchy drums, chopped samples, and bounce all over. No hazy loops. Lotta really dope emcees showed up for it. I hope it gets some attention on here.
That's dope. Yeah, I respect that.Yep! I was listening to a long DJ Muggs interview. He said that he already very rich! He has a lot of real estate and doesn't really need money. He is now mainly working for art and looks for artists that put a lot of consistent work. Muggs had a phase between 2008 to 2015 were he was experimenting. I believe he did an album with Tricky.
That's dope. Yeah, I respect that.
And pretty much everyone's favorite producers have multiple projects with rappers that most people don't consider elite.
Primo had Group Home and Blaq Poet.
Pete had INI and DZA.
Madlib had Strong Arm Steady and Guilty Simpson.
Alchemist had Domo Genesis and Jay Worthy.
It won't ever stop.
They're definitely being used as a crutch. Another good litmus test is to listen to the loop and think, "If this wasn't produced by Roc, Madlib, Alc, or Ka, would I think it's dope?Problem is, only a select few actually "get it"
Drumless beats from anyone not named Marci, Ka, Alc, or Madlib have a 50/50 chance of being dope.
That being said...I don't hate them, but I am starting to think they're being used as a bit of a crutch now. Just find a loop and get the rapper to rhyme over it so we can put this project out ASAP.
I still listen to the project he has produced by Havoc too. That one was slept on.Flee lord came up, had the best song on that Griselda movie soundtrack imo and now this
