The Neptunes
Timbaland
Jermaine Dupri
Kanye West
Scott Storch
Lil' Jon
Swizz Beatz

^^^ All had one or multiple runs >>>>>> DJ Mustard. To top it off, they all had bigger hits than Mustard. Throw T-Minus (even though he's retired, but still), Mike Will, and possibly even 40 into the mix as well if we're talking about the current crop of producers.

Scott Storch was huge at one point and not just in hip hop. Its ironic that around the time he fell off was when sales fell off for the whole industry.

Neptunes ran the hip hop charts, R&B charts and pop charts for a good half of the 00's. Mustard has one more year in him at best before another producer takes his spot.

Yeah.. .I think the difference is one recycles in the weakest point in hiphop history for producers........the other group has actual talent and a range that we may never see again.

I still remember the other 6-8 producers that were out when the Neptune were running shyt.......... All of them > Mustard too.

But.... it's not Mustards fault tho cuz competition breeds quality:yeshrug:

that newnegro Farraell Williams....... there isn't a style of music he hasn't touched .. and crushed. :wow:

Guys, bare with me here, and please READ and RESPOND.

There is a reason why Mustard is running radio, Dom is in the new Nike commercial with Richard Sherman, and 2-Chaniz has essentially become a west coast artist.

California has experienced RECORD sunshine the past 3 years.

2014 is LITERALLY the HOTTTEST YEAR ON RECORD IN CALIFORNIA.

We are experiencing a drought. It has rained like 2 inches in 7 years or some shyt.

Mustard, Y.G., Ty$, Teefli, Kendrick Lamar, all of these L.A. DUDES are turning sunshine into turn up party/dance/strip club music.

This run has a LOT to do with science.

im listening to this old interview on the breakfast club with him. Talking about he gave kanye 100 beats and minaj 15 beats. I just wish he was more selective with his beats. thats what i hate about the game now. no chemistry in the studio. i prefer making a particular beat that fits an artist. not letting the artist choose what beat he wants.
Exactly. Blame the artist for picking the repetitive beat not mustard

Tyga-Rack City, Jeezy-RIP, 2Chainz-Im Different, Tinashe-2on, Migos-Fight Night, Jermih-Dont Tell Em...damn near everything on the radio every 5 mins
He didn't produce fight night, somebody else did

with that said, he better save his money.

he drives a cls63, for rapper/producer standards that isn't anything tbh

bought his mom a prius :yeshrug:

either somebody else is eating off his beats or he knows his music is a fad and he's saving

People sayin' it's a flash in the pan, but he's almost 3 years running and blowing up more each year... also he's just starting to get those upper mainstream looks too. When those artists come knocking (and you know they will cause that's what they always do), I wouldn't be surprised if 2015 is an even bigger year.

That said, let's not jump the gun with the Neptunes comparison just yet. Right now, he's where the Neptunes were in 2001. Huge year for them, and were coming off a good year in 2000 too... but then 2002-03 was INSANITY. If he has his 2002-03, he's there, or at least in contention. I ain't about to deny his dominance right now. And you know somebody's on fire when there's songs out there copying his sound to a point you can put em right in with his records and wouldn't know he didn't do it (see: Teddy Riley, Dre, Puff/Hitmen, Swizz, Neptunes, Lil' Jon)

Best thing about it, IMO, is after years of mega-slow records dominating the party and radio... FINALLY we're going back over 90 beats per minute. Them slow rap jams were killin' me, seriously.
