fukk primo nas need to do an album with lex luger
*DJ Premier or Nas announce they're gonna do an album together*
really it means DJ Premier's checking to see if Nas is still alive.
Premo send Nas some reference tracks
Salaam Remi receives the beats, gets furious, throws em away. When Nas asks what happened, Salaam doesn't know.
Salaam gives Nas 30 brand new beats, Nas picks 15 of the worst ones. And off we go.
Outside of made you look, Remi is garbage. All these dope producers and he stay working with these mediocre beats from Remi, shyts disgusting.
What has been the knock on Nas? His beat selection.
Who is the one consistent person making his beats going back to Godson? Salaam.
LIG was dope because of No I.D. (Back When, Stay, Where's the Love, Daughters, Accidental Murderers). Even Buckwild came through with what a lot of people think is the best overall song (you wouldn't understand). All of Salaam's tracks sound old, and dusty. I'm not against an old school sound, but it still has to sound good. And plenty of cats can create that sound and still make it sound crisp.
It don't matter what year his beats come out, they all sound infinitely garbage (don't ask).
That mary j blige joint was so lame... it's not possible to use a cornier sample
made you look, cherry wine, queens story, ?
I said made you look. That a was certified banger. And that's about it. 1 banger in over a decade. Horrible ratio. Cherry wine appeal is Amy Winehouse end of story. Beat was. Queens story was aiight... but if it wasn't on the album I wouldn't lose sleep.
The bottom line is he's not that great of a producer, yet he's constantly on dude's album when there are so many other options. When people start speculating on who his going to produce on so and so's next album you hear RZA, ALC, KANYE, JUST BLAZE, MIKE WILL, ...etc
NOBODY IS PUTTING HIM ON THEIR PRODUCER WISH LIST FOR THEIR FAVORITE ARTIST. THAT'S BECAUSE HE'S MEDIOCRE.
Who would you rather hear Nas work with... Salaam or Just Blaze? How about RZA? No I.D.? I think we all know the answer to those questions.
*Edit* I like the first 40 seconds of Queens Story, but then he went all nuts with the violins. He couldn't just loop that stretch because he doesn't know a dope beat if it hit him in the head. Then he throws in that Run DMC "you all know how the story goes" which just makes it so old and dusty.
Why don't you shut up you damn fact checker![]()

Couple of those are aiight. I can randomly pick 5 tracks off Albert Einstein that's better than those (except Where Y'all At). But don't you feel Nas should be working with the cream of the crop? Give Nas those Watch the Throne beats, and he will crush that shyt out the park.Theifs Theme, Nazerth Savage, Where Y'all at, Can't Stop Us Now, Talk of New York, Nasty, Black Bond, War, Streets Disciple though
Depends on which beats you're talking about. While I think he would sound fine on them, we already know the narrative from people if he hops on a 808s track and people start saying hes changed. If he wants to rap on contemporary beats whils still sounding like Nas, No ID can simply do his best Kanye/Primo/Just Blaze (Control) impression and sort him out. In terms of making something boom bap and blues like Salaam got him all the time. Really the direction and approach with those two would be the same as if he rocked wit Kanye, Alch, Pete Rock, RZA, and other soul procducers.Couple of those are aiight.
