I remember Just Blaze telling the story of how Public Service Announcement was recorded.

The album was complete, and they were playing it for critics at baseline. In the other room, Just was making the beat. He called Jay in and played it, Jay said he thought it was dope. Went out to sit with the critics as they listened to the album. Came back to Just, told him to put the beat up. Spat the first verse. Went back to the critics room for another listening session, came back to Just. Spit the 2nd verse. Basically writing it while listening to other music and talking to critics.

Then they called the plant/press and told them not to press the CD because they had a new song to replace an interlude that was there.

That's why on the back cover of the album it says "Interlude" and not "Public Service Announcement"

I think I've heard both Just and Guru tell this story separately.

On MTV Diary Jay-z said most of the songs
he came up with was when he was driving around in his car.

As far as ''So Ghetto'' goes that beat is one of my least fav DJ Premier beats.
