My pops and brother put me on to Hip-hop since I was a jit
My brother came back from Cali once and he brought back a ton of tapes and vinyls for my pops. Me being a nosey kid, came across Quik's shyt and ever since I've been a fan.

Video Music Box (Uncle Ralph) used to play "Tonight" pretty often, plus he was getting a good amount of run on Yo MTV Raps. I'm from NYC as well and that's how I was exposed to Quik.

Rosenberg is rarely familiar with anyone. I'm kinda that he even listens to rap. I've heard interviews where he straight up was like "what's that?" when people were discussing their songs. People like De La, NBN, etc. Not some underground shyt. I could understand someone on here not being 100% knowledgeable about everything but god damn man....when it's your job at least Wikipedia who you're interviewing.

I don't let the fukkboy qualities of Rosenberg cloud my vision of him. He knows his shyt, just not certain artists, in this case Quik. He knows that 90s east coast underground shyt and Ciph has knowledge on some things too. With me and all these podcasts (Combat Jack, Shots Fired, etc) it's give and take because there will be artists they know NOTHING about and others where it's a good stimulating podcast. That's one of the main reasons I'm not all rah rah about Combat interviewing certain artists, because it won't necessarily be in depth about the music.

If yall want some interviewers who are familiar with their subjects, peep Day 1 Radio, they know most of the artists/interviewees so it's more up close and in depth. Definitely one of my favorite shows to listen to
