David Blake doesn't even deserve to be where Mannie Fresh is. You're good David, you're not on par with Dre, fam. :rudy:

Fresh aint do a hot beat since 2002 . Quik since then dropped Balance N options, Book of David, The album with Kurupt, The Rosecrans album with Problem, and The Midnight life, Fukk you even talking about?

yea you just being a stubborn idiot. magoo had no appeal and had no talent otherwise he would still have appeal like the people dre worked with do outside working with dre. people who use to work with dre still were able to hold their head above water without dre. same with timbaland acts. missy was talented and wrote and arranged songs before and after working with timb. aaliyah had a hit without timb. static major was a phenomenal writer. what did magoo do outside timbaland? nothing. wheres magoo? *rick ross voice*

quik didnt have the luck and machine dre did.

That was the argument. Magoo was still successful regardless of talent, which kills the argument that these acts that Quik isn't revered because he chose to work with less talented acts. Someone brought up Group Home and Magoo. Well, Magoo went platinum, had a gold single ("Up Jumps Da Boogie"), and two other songs that were hits ("Luv 2 Luv" and "Clock Strikes").

Magoo is on record saying he'd NEVER make a record without Timbaland. So there's that.

Missy doesn't have hit songs and records before working with Tim. The two have a track record that goes back before either of them were famous.

Aaliyah wasn't a Timbaland artist. She was already established.

Static blew after penning the Timbaland produced "Pony" for Ginuwine.

Luck and a machine only get you so far. You sit up here and talk about well, Quik had less talented artists, but move the goal posts to luck and the machine.

He didn't put anyone on.
HE didnt create NWA, eazy-e, ice cube, d.o.c., snoop dogg, shyt not even a michell'e
He didnt create death row or aftermath,
No Eminem, no 50 cent,
None of his albums fukking with any of dre's except COMPTON and COMPTON better than quik new shyt.
His songs aint better than dre's, he is a more talented musician skillset wise but the MUSIC dont sound better than Dr. Dre's.
He getting that bitter pete rock bitter nikka syndrome and quik was always a smooth fly playalistic nikka being bitter don't look good on him.

He need to go get a facial, perm his hair goto an open mic and discover a nikka, because being a bitter west coast Original Not a ganxsta.
Makes him look... well... LIKE A BYTCH.

Sincerely,

a westcoast nikka who bump's quik groove's while smashing hoes.

Matter of fact he need to drop a quik's groove album show off his instrumentation real talk.

luck and the machine play into dre having access to a better talent pool. no goal post was moved. you short sighted as hell and do not see the full picture. this isnt a slight to dre its reality that dre had a better talent pool to work with than quik.

luck and machine only go so far if you not talented and working with talented people.

luck and the machine got iggy a hit with fancy nothing happened after that cus she was trash.

you being dishonest by acting like dre did this by himself and could turn anyone into a star. if that was true aftermath presents woulda been a smash and someone else on that project would have become a star like he did for snoop and went platinum and had hits. but it didnt cus he didnt have the talent around him at the time.

I don't have a dog in this fight but there is a LOT more into crafting a star than having the right producer. It takes a whole staff and label. And tbh thats not even enough sometimes; whole lotta luck moon stars n sun gotta align just right. Work ethic is another HUGE one. Chemistry another. Unless any of us were there with quik its all hearsay and assumptions being made. 3 sides to a story feel me

NOBODY does it by themselves, but let's not make excuses just because Quik isn't as revered especially since he's worked with a lot of the same artists as Dre.

And as proven, talent pool has nothing to do with it. You got Magoo going platinum under Timbaland and several acts under Master P's No Limit Records that were going gold and platinum left and right.

I never said Dre could turn anyone into a star, but there's much to be said about him being able to consistently do it. I mean, take Xzibit for example. Dude was kind of between underground and mainstream, but he went platinum when Dre was involved in the Restless album.

Aftermath Presents wasn't going to be anything huge because it was a complete departure from what Dre was known for. He shunned gangsta rap and made a departure from the West Coast sound, with something more East Coast leaning. And to say he didn't have talent around him at the time is laughable.

He put Mauseberg on....I know David personally....he didn't put Suga Free on but is behind alot of his music....alot of you may not even know what he has been behind....he has some issues though and that's all I'm gonna say and that may be why his status in this hip hop game was never elevated....
yeah he was a drunk
