Since when does financially contributing to the well-being of a child = being a father?
If a woman decides to accept the physical & economic demands of raising a child, I don't see the real problem with a man (presumably the father) contributing financially. Men can opt-out of at least some of the headache and burden of having a child ... and perhaps all. A woman, even if she eventually gives the child up for adoption, still has to deal with the agony of pregnancy and childbirth.
