All of this DLSS frame generation and resolution scaling, Ray/Path tracing... it went way over my head when it started out with the GTX 20xx gen. Last summer I upgraded from a 1070 TI to a 5070 OC. I had been low key paying attention to these new software developments and that is why I chose to go with the 50 series. It's the same reason I bought wifey a PS5 pro rather than another version of the PS5 or an X-Box. I saw that the software available on these platforms would supersede hardware limitations.
I don't own many games that fully take advantage of this tech but I do have some.
I can run Cyberpunk 2077 with everything maxed out including Path tracing, medium crowd density and get a solid 60 fps. That is because of DLSS and to be honest it looks great.
The Last of Us is another one. I used DLSS for resolution scaling and went to 90%. I was really surprised at the jump in FPS and the lack of quality loss.
Overall I think it's dope but it is also going to lead to poorly optimised games that rely on AI to clean up dev's fukk ups.
What I would like to see is a way to retrofit DLSS and Path tracing into older games. That is the shyt we need.
are you smoking?
