Then just live in VA, shirlington (south Arlington) Alexandria, falls church, annadale, vienna, fairfax - those are all good looks. Traffic in the DMV can kill you, I'd say suck it up with the prices or look for some thing smalle and stay in nova

What's the better place to live? I know the whole DC metro area is similar but I'm sure there's some differences I wouldn't know cuz I never lived there. I just got a job where ima be workin in NoVA. I been house hunting and although it's mostly expensive af, I've seen stuff in my price range if I commute either from MD or live a little farther out in VA

Idk what my hours will be yet but I don't think it'll be too flexible. I have a 3 year old son that will go to school. Idk how often I will go to DC but I'm assuming maybe weekly? I ls like my commute to be 30 mins or less, I will be working in the Springfield area, and diversity doesn't matter I guess

congrats man. i'd live in virginia then. traffic is terrible and the slightly less expensive cost of living in MD is not (in my opinion) worth the stress of the commute to springfield. i think the schools are better too, and there's just more expansion/development happening in northern virginia. as long as u don't mind the fact that it's pretty dry in terms of people/socializing (but so is maryland), i think it's the better choice.

Depends on what you want, if you want the squarest most safest situation then NoVA the move but if you don't necessarily care then MD the move. Endless ways to get into the city, more diverse and liberal, and they bout to stamp that medi tree and build casinos. Pick your side of the river breh.

Yea it really comes down to the type commute + the type of people you want to live around. NOVA = more white people PG = More black.

Springfield is cool tho. Like other posters have said Alexandria too. I don't know too much about VA tho. Never lived there.

There are some nice places in PG but most of those will cause you to have a potentially terrible commute to work.

chances are if u choose anywhere in maryland your commute could be shytty on any given day. Thats just DMV traffic tho


Never knew cost of living was cheaper in NoVa than MD.

It's very easy to get around (metro, buses) and it's very diverse. Like everyone else says, the traffic is horrible. 395, 495, 270 are all parking lots during rush hour.

Plus it depends on what part of the city you workin in. If you work NW you might want to fukk with Downtown Silver Spring but if you work in SW or SE or even VA then I'd go for the Tribeca Condos off Branch Ave all kinds of bad ass broads off they young professional shyt plus wholetime Delonte West keep a spot out there so you might see some wild shyt too.

Or you could fukk with NoVA.

co-sign Arlington's young professional scene is under-rated, DC cool but pricey look into a room-mate situation and pg/mo-co cool and then you have B More so there is no way that you can lose in the night life

Budget 2k for rent in DC and NOVA. I'm not as familiar with McLean but it's a bit further out so you may catch a deal over there but maybe not because it's close to tysons. But the metro ride from McLean into DC would probably be at least 20-35 minutes depending on the side of DC you're going to.

If you're sure your clients are in D.C. I would check all over D.C.. you could even check S.E. near the waterfront and navy yard anything further and you may not be in the safest part of D.C. Columbia heights is developing well but still seedy, Rosslyn is a good medium between. The city of D.C. and Virginia. Crystal City is a good place to check too.

If you want to be in D.C. proper it's endless options and if you don't mind walking a little you'll be fine. Just remember from about late September to Late March the weather is different than LA.

Thanks. The realtor person actually suggested the tysons area since it's walking distance from my job so I guess I'll be looking more in the nova area. I was trying to go high like 1500-1700 cus paying 2k for a one bedroom just seem crazy to me but everything is so expensive out there. I'm cool living in the hood in la cuz it's what I know and how to move but I ain't trying to do that in no an Virginia that's backwards af.

And how different it the weather cuz I don't even own a jacket like that outside of a hoodie

Edit. Didn't see the nova part smh what would be the closest nice DC area to commute to the tysons area. Not trying be on the train more then 25-30 moms tho
