man, I remember this from a dj clue mixtape back in the late 90's. I thought this song never got cleared due to the magnum PI sample.
Didn't Cam allude to ghostwriting hits for DMX?
I thought it was bullshyt until I remembered cam pretty much doing X's flow perfectly on this
I remember some interview or something on sohh back in the day where Cam said he made million's off a popular rapper's hit records that he wrote and the way he was describing it sounded a lot like DMX. And I was just using Shanghai as an example that he could already write in the style of X. Don't know if it's true but I remember a big thread on sohh about it.Nah. X had alotta songs already done for mad years before he put em out. shyt if that's is the case. What can u say about Drag On?. He used to do Cam's flow.
Nah he def wrote for some rappers. He even wrote Crush On You for Lil Kim. Doubt it was X tho. Put it like this. If that's the case. JR Writer wrote for Cam. Cause he did Cam's Dipset style flawlessly. When in reality he was just influenced by Cam and ran wit the style and expanded on it.I remember some interview or something on sohh back in the day where Cam said he made million's off a popular rapper's hit records that he wrote and the way he was describing it sounded a lot like DMX. Exactly what I was tryna tell him. nikka X had those rhymes on those first 2 albums forever. Which is why those albums came out in the same year. LolLOL Cam never wrote for DMX. 90% of DMX rhymes are like 25 years old. All those rhymes on his first two albums, he had been using since the early 90s.
Cam wrote for Lil Kim and Junior Mafia tho.
LOL yep. I heard some shyt recently that he spit that I heard on a freestyle from like 1993Exactly what I was tryna tell him. nikka X had those rhymes on those first 2 albums forever. Which is why those albums came out in the same year. Lol

In an interview with Hot 97 personalities DJ Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg on their Juan Epstein podcast, the Harlemite revealed that he wrote Cease A Leo’s rhymes on Lil’ Kim‘s 1996 hit “Crush on You.” “What happened was, [Untertainment CEO Lance] Un [Rivera] gave Mase $30,000 to write five songs for Lil’ Cease at that time and Mase gave me $5,000 of the 30 to write one or two of the songs,” he said. “I wrote the ‘Crush on You’ song and they ended up keeping it for Lil’ Kim album but it was really for Lil’ Cease. The original ‘Crush on You’ is all Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim isn’t even on the record.” Cam, who didn’t have a solo album deal at the time, says he was paid the $5,000 up front and did not receive any residuals after the song started to gain success, making its way to No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music charts in 1997.
