anybody else find it funny that ruff riders as a whole didn't want that shiny, glassy style, but DMX was first brought to the mainstream on a Ma$e record and Lox were on Bad Boy. Call me crazy but X would have had a classic over there if he would have signed, it may not have been dark and minimalist but puff would make it sound like cinematic movie of a bad guy

No. Let me school you..

Ruff Ryders started off as a management company in the late 80's and DMX was their first artist. DMX then brought the Lox (then known as Warlox) to Ruff Ryders. Down the road in the early 90's somewhere they
had Mase (when he was Murder Mase) too.

Ruff Ryders ended up getting Lox & Mase signed to Bad Boy to work with Puff and to help him write etc., which is the standard in the industry. DMX was too cruddy for Puff at that time which
wasn't the direction he wanted to go.

And then DMX got on Def Jam, with the help of Irv Gotti becoming an A&R somewhere in the mid 90's & also bringing Ja Rule. But Rule was contractually locked
to an old deal (TVT Records) which is why it took him a while to get that push.

Then down the road Ruff Ryders became a label due to their impact and got a deal with Interscope. If you notice, DMX isn't in on the cover for the 1st RR album, any videos (except the one's where he's rapping)
& shyt? I belive it's because Def Jam wouldn't clear him for that, since Def Jam at the time were in competition with Universal - which is Interscope's parent company - so it was politics.

But the point is that Lox, Mase & X were Ruff Ryders. DMX brought Lox to Ruff Ryders and allegedly was the main reason Eve came to RR. I believe it was politics to help push Eve - who was on Aftermath/Interscope up until 1997 - like they did with Game to G-Unit, & in turn work a label deal for RR by Interscope. But X was related to Mel-Man or one of Mel-Mans affiliate so it worked out like it worked out.

:dahell: at no one mentioning "I been had skills, Cristal spills, Hiding bills in Brazil" :banderas: Big's last verse on Victory could be a contender too or Mo Money Mo Problems.

Classic Niccas
i see people mention south rappers in here.

but when it comes to the south, theres only ONE that takes the cake.

you know

Then the original when that nikka came thru that smoke too set his verse off classic:blessed:

haha. yea that was classic.

i like the color one better where he was killin it by the pool table.

both versions of "foe tha luv of $" were magical.

but why isnt there a proper color version uploaded on youtube?

:skip:huh?? wish isn't on that track
And no, u wildin with that second one. Bizzy and layzie killed down 71 and krayzie was in last. (Trust me, I'm a bizzy and Krayzie head too). when Layzie had the bullets and bombs break down in his verse?? :whoo:

But yes, wish held his own on that album but no idea what happened after that. I loved his verse on everyday thang. Everyone fukkin came solid on that track.:blessed:

yea down 71 is a tough one.

that part where layzie was rapping over bullets & explosives takes the cake tho.

gotta give it to layzie.

Somebody posted 2pac "Made niiggaz" which made me think of these two joints (not collabs) but the last verses on both song are nice.

I almost posted that one. :whew: Prince of the South :gladbron:

Houston connections wouldn't let me though :wow:

If Yungstar had finished Wanna Be a Baller, his verse would have been up there too :lawd:

Twista's second verse on this track is never mentioned but it's pure flames.

People mention Mase on "nikkaz Done Started Something" but he went in on this as well

I'd nominate Mystikal's verse on "Make Em Say Uggh" simply because it's one of those verses that had people running to lyrics.com or ohhla.com to print out the verses. It was like everybody wanted to learn the lyrics to either know what he was saying because he rapped some of it so fast OR you knew if you could spit that verse your homies would be like :ooh:.

Other that come to mind:

Biggie on "It's All About The Benjamins"

Nas on "It's Mine"
