Marianne Williamson has sensed a dark new energy — from her Democratic rivals.
The longshot presidential candidate told party activists at the Iowa Wing Ding dinner Friday that other Dems in the race were working hard to keep her out of next month’s third debate.
“There’s well-strategized effort to smear me. There’s no doubt about that,” she told the Daily Mail. “There’s some very powerful forces that want to make sure I’m not in that third debate so I must be doing something right if they’ve worked so hard to create that.”
“It’s very frustrating because I like to think on the left we don’t do things like that. So it’s been a bit of a wake-up call,” she added according to the tabloid.
Williamson, 67, is a political newcomer who made her name as an activist and self-help guru. She is the author of multiple best-selling books on the subject. She has become a breakout star of the Democratic field, dominating Google searchresults and generating an endless stream of viral moments from her two previous debate appearances.
