Is why I'm slowly leaning towards her argument. It wasn't no scraps being thrown, my people had to fight to get what we have here. When I hear the stories my mother tells, I can't believe they went through that shyt. It keeps coming back to this is why there is no respect shown, yall have this idea that whites just felt sorry for black americans, and gave us something. Reading the posts from the delta chick made me think about a lot of things. Like Africans getting so much money in aid yet do nothing with it. They have countries, but most of them are in deep shyt, yet they look down on us when we are constantly fighting for our growth and get no type of money. I really have a feeling things are about to change, and immigrants are not going to be seen in a positive light because of the disrespect. They wave their flag, which I can understand, but dis America at the same time. Its like they are playing us. I always felt I had to give respect because I grew up hearing about black pride, and was seeing how racists whites treated all of us but, it wasn't my experience from most. There was an African I knew that was a real good brother but a lot of them, just like west Indians/latins, try to distance themselves and give a feeling of that they are better then you. What's weird is they would only do it when they were around each other in big numbers or around their elders. Which is when I started to notice this shyt. Out of not wanting to dis blacks in front of others, and disrespecting the good people I met, I just let it slide but I don't think I can anymore. Especially with the internet letting people show their true colors. I never heard a lot of the stuff I read.

Now that President Obama is allowing these immigrants some rights, and don't give two shyts about us, I'm seeing its time to change some things, and my thinking of blacks being together is one of them. I like Tariq nasheed and others like him but, I think I'm going to have to chill with the blacks of the world unite stuff. If we got tricked before, and our asses were sent here, who is to say it won't happen again in another way? That's what history is for, to show you what not to do again, and if we see now who isn't really down for us, we need to take heed before they be used against us just like they are using latin immigrants. I think its time for us to do us. I have no hate for immigrants and the children of them but, now I see they do have an issue with me, so my black ass better wake up or all the work my people did for me to have a better life will be gone, and it was done by someone who I thought was my brother, since we all went through the same shyt from the same group. Hell no, I ain't letting that happen. I will mingle with them to observe, and learn, but always aware that they are competing with me, and don't really care about me, for the most part. The ones who prove they aren't with the bullshyt, I'll treat them like I always have, with respect, and as a brother.

Those few cultural differences never stop Caribbeans for working for the Best interest of ALL black people in the past.

I hear you, my original post was referring to @88m3 going hard in that ignorant thread where ppl were talking in circles about those two black immigrants that preserved the negative elements of their culture and ppl were saying all west indians got to pay homage or .once they touch American soil.

Those immigrants that look down on AAs are the same ones that looked down on their lower class brethren in their homeland. They reject their ancestral culture in favor of some european bullshyt. Those same "upper class" Jamaicans and Haitians act like speaking Patois or Creole is beneath them and talk about England and France like its their motherland. So they bring that social class discrimination shyt with them to the states. shyt isnt exclusive to black americans, they look down on everybody like that.

But they're the minority even in the tri-state area and So. Florida. Majority of West Indians got no issues with AAs and identify as black american unless they literally fresh off the boat and dont know english. shyt, most west indians fully assimilate within one generation even in cities where they're numbers are dominant. U see this in West Indian-heavy spots like Jersey and New York. And in cities where AAs are dominant, they assimilate even faster like Philly.
