People enjoy living vicariously through their favorite artist.
For example:
If Drake eats Burger King chances are his fans will start eating Burger King because well, Drake does it.
If Rihanna and Drake are linked together it's like seeing Wonder Woman and batman become intimate. People love seeing their favor characters come together it's no different with celebrities/entertainers.
Rumors keep the name of these celebrities busy in the mouths of the public. Look at Rihanna's brief association with Travis and it giving him more public awareness because her fans most likely aren't too familiar with his content and of course she is more popular.
No matter what publicity, it's good publicity.
That doesnt explain how this rumor would sell tickets?
