A lot of them make money in their community. That's why they deep at their own businesses.
Also, it’s a small number of em that be on that crime shyt. Khat, prostitution, illegal after hours spots, hard drugs, a lot of weed, scams, etc.

Im a liquor sales rep. 2 of my bigger liquor accounts are owned by Ethiopians. One on the south side and one in midtown

Same...the Ethiopians I know are in law, engineering and medicine.
They definitely make bank but it's never obvious how they do it. Rarely talk about their jobs...you just see the results. These are Millenials though.
The older ones be running gas stations, taxi driving etc. They'll work weird hours so they got more time in the day to chill at Starbucks.

I remember when I was a kid, I found out that there was this old somali head that literally had over 30 bodies to his name during the war. Never looked at him the same, I thought he was some jolly ol' uncle.
If you are in the Bay Area, I think I know the spots you are talking about. It depends on the situation of the people there. But like people said, a lot of them drive Uber/Lyft or work graveyard shifts in security or at liquor stores. They usually be up in there talking politics and other BS about back home. Usually older dudes and new fobs. The more Americanized Ethiopian work regular jobs, usually white collar. They will work any job, but you’ll be hard pressed to find them in physical labor blue collar jobs. Maybe mechanic at most. The women have their own spots, usually church or one of the women’s homes where they chill. Plus the reason you can see a more lax attitude towards work that a lot of the older folks have is because their kids live in the home longer than most American kids, so they spilt cost on rent and other shyt.
