caring about “sales” in the streaming era where nobody’s buying albums has always been nonsense
People still buy cds, digital copies and vinyls though. Also, the 1500 streams are equivalent to revenue earned from 1 cd sale so it generates the same income.

I always despised this way of thinking. Now it doesn't matter cause the music is shyt anyway. Artists who bragged about it are now scared straight to even drop a single.

Where the hell do you even play cds though?

Physical media is just more junk I don’t want to collect at this point. It just collects dust in my closet.
at home, where I'm at most of the day and night when I'm not out running or at B&N. I don't stream music. You can't pass down your mp3s and streaming apps to your children so they can earn a living in the future if they want to sell it. About 99% of my collection is first pressings. I can tell you exactly which represses I have and why I have them. Most represses sound like complete shyt.

I think that’s very niche. Get life insurance or property if you wanna pass something down to your kids lol

Streaming is the future.

That’s why Wayne the goat. Did crazy numbers and never bragged or shytted on smaller artists or posted his Billboard numbers etc.

Drake and Nicki be posting stats all day and night. Cringe.

Kendrick and Wayne would never.

I’d say Kendrick & Em since they never bragged about sales as much. But some of Em’s fans are just looney.

:russ: , I have all of that too. Thanks for the advice. My kids, won't need a gofundme when I leave here. Streaming may be the future, just as digital print, but digital print magazines and streams aren't selling for tens of thousands of dollars through Sothebys and Ebay.

This is an era where your first week can be 50k and you'll be gold or platinum in 6-8 months. Glorilla's debut album was perceived as a flop on first week and went on to go gold and probably platinum in the future. Same for a lot of the R&B and afrobeats artists as well.

First week sales are definitely not important.
