This is what I understand from this.

As a COMMUNITY - it is not a lack of "do for self" that is holding us back. Going out and grinding will not dramatically improve black people's position. To think that is possible is to tacitly believe black people are in the position we are in because of our own actions, ineptitude and poor performance. BUT we all know that is not the case. When we become successful as a community, the carpet is taken from beneath us. The USA is built on white people standing on black people's backs and this needs to change.

HOWEVER - obviously grind and get yours. But be community focussed at the same time.

Btw Haiti is a HORRIBLE example of "do for self". The revolution I love it and I wish more people knew about it and the story. But Haiti is a perfect example of white people ensuring Haiti does not succeed as a free nation. Absolutely no way. From having to pay France reparations, to having any honest President murdered and replaced by a US-backed puppet.

Again to say "do for self" is the answer for the entire diaspora is to suggest we haven't been trying or doing the right things for 300 years.
