I moved back South (from Chicago to Nashville) and it has been great. My pop's and my older brother would have never moved back South under any circumstances. They both died in Chicago. My mother on the other hand always said that she would never move back South either, but a few years ago she moved to Florida to be nearer my older sister and my mother loves it. Now my mother tells me that she would never move back to Chicago, but she does take a few trip up there each year to visit my other sister that still lives there.
So you might be surprised by the move. You might like the move like me and my mother or then again you might be like my dad and my brother and curse the very notion of that shyt. It ain't for everybody.
My mom left Sacramento in April 2015 to move to Gainesville, Ga. She doesn't particularly enjoy it, but she has a really good job and the pace of life and cost of living is easy. She says she wouldn't move back to Sac because of the COL...
My mom was born in Arkansas and spent part of her childhood in Houston (as well as Michigan), so she's familiar enough with the South. But she spent something like 32 years in California before coming to Georgia in '15, after moving to Cali when she was 15. Besides a brief return to Arkansas after she graduated high school and a brief stay in Atlanta in the '90s, my mom was in California from like 1981-2015...
I relocated one of my brothers to GA in January 2014 and he has a love/hate relationship with it. Wants to go back to Sac but has found success in GA he never had there and is in a long term relationship with a chick he loves who is from GA...
Alota my family would never leave Cali, my dad was born in '68 and has never lived a day of his life outside Cali (he's traveled though), and most of my siblings ain't trying to leave. But I've had other relatives relocate within this decade, all going south (to Georgia or San Antonio or back to Arkansas where most of my family roots are)...
