So I’ve got my 4 nephews and nieces all under ten livng with me for a few days. I subscribed to Disney Plus on my 55 inch HD tv thinking I was going to be the cool uncle that spoils them with HD Mickey Mouse etc and these little brats haven’t even watched anything on it since they arrived :martin:

They’re all hunched up with their junky looking android tablets watching some weird children’s shyt on YouTube or playing some games and I’m here like “why y’all ain’t watching Disney on the TV? :flabbynsick:

They’ll lift their heads for like 2 seconds and go back their YouTube videos. Is this what kid do these days?

Kids multitask now. They like to have the tv on in the background while their face is buried in the tablet

This.

My boys literally play with legos and toys, with headphones on listening to some youtube shyt on the Switch, while watching Craig of the Creek on HBO:why:. Then them nikkas have a nerf gun fight for 5 minutes, get tired, and then get back to doing what they was doing :mjlol:

I wish I just made all that up :francis:

I think by large most people, not only kids, don’t watch tv like that.

kids spend their time on YouTube, tik tok or twitch, whereas adults just use stream platforms for specific shows. now add to this the fact that these platforms can be accessed via phone, laptops and tablets, then yeah

at least that’s been my experience, based on friends and relatives.

long gone are the days where people actually sit in front of a tv

YouTube. I didn't think much of it when my daughter was in daycare. The teachers did 70% of their interactive play with it.

Kids are wired to it now.

I make her turn that weird Chinese cartoon shyt off.

That Ryan kid is about to get 86ed soon.

Forces me to take her bike riding or painting together at least.

The attention spans of the future generations is going to be trash.

It almost makes you wonder how it will affect innovations in the future. I feel like we're losing our ability to specialize in skills. Now, if there isn't immediate positive feedback, our brains are bei g trained to drop it and switch to something else more stimulating. I mean for example, I remember reading about prince and his process of becoming good at music was basically sitting in the basement for hours on end until he got good at that shyt. I wonder if kids are going to have that kind of grit going forward.

Generational shift, kids have and spend their attention on what appeals to them and being able to control virtually every part of it. As you've already said, youtube is king. My sons are 11 & 13. They can both sit and watch youtubers for hours, bunch of different shows, but if if I ask them to watch something on a streaming svce, first thing they wanna know is how long is and anything more than 5 minutes is a grumbling lol. My kids used to watch that show Bunk'd and I learned Disney had cut the theme song from 40 seconds to about 15 secs bec kids complain on their feedback for the show that the intro was too long lol

I deebo these lil muhfuggas when they come to my crib. They ain’t allowed to be on their tablets, toys and tv playin in the background. You pick one and it better be educational.

Ain’t no peppa Pig, blippi, Ryan or toys unlimited playing in my crib. Yo ass better learn your colors, numbers, animals and ABCs. Not watch people play with fukkin toys.
