Do most of you still believe that Democrats are the Go To Party for black people?

Your question isn't direct. I get what you are trying to do, but you should word your question better because ambiguity can lead to two different answers.

Are the democrats still the go to party for black people?

Are you trying to ask if the democratic party is the party that black people still vote in...primarily yes
If you are trying to ask "do you think the democratic party has black people's best interest in mind"...that is a different question.

:manny:
I want both answers....

People answer in the way that reveals their idea so I left it ambiguous:yeshrug:

Yes, because since America is a winner takes all democracy, American voters vote with a single-peaked mindset. It makes sense for Black voters to vote Democrat, and explains why most do.
So you beleive the Dems have the interest of black people in mind?

You find that black people do better in business, education, property acquisition and with the Justice system under Dems?

Since I studied poli sci before I switched over to econ, I look at it from an academic standpoint. For me as someone who isn't a single issue voter, in a 2 party system, it's logical for me to vote with the party whose platform aligns with my values the most. And for 92% of black people and myself that's the Democrats.

We don't play the game inn a smart way which is why we have nothing to show for it
You didn't answer the question...

But I think you're saying the dems are What we need, but we haven't used them right? We haven't used them like.... The gays for example?

Ummm

Yo, have you polled thr average black family
Then examined the issues
And values of parties?

You really believe 92% of black voters align with the Dem platform and primary Agendas?

You don't think many so called urban blacks are anti gay agenda, pro gun rights, pro individualism, less taxes on business, etc? Just curious...

As a progressive, I sense there’s a backlash to liberal ideals here. So I’m curious.

What is it about the progressive agenda that doesn’t align with the black agenda? What is it about the progressive agenda that y’all are not feeling? What should be added or subtracted from the progressive agenda?

I'd also call myself a progressive I guess :jbhmm:, it's certainly better than conservatism, but I have some problems with white liberals and their willful ignorance to basic shyt.

They will accept any sob story or ridiculous cause. Progressives shouldn't go to war over bathroom access or little Billy that wants to dress as Sally because his parents are open and "progressive. "

Like...naw, my kids better not come at me with that shyt under my own roof. I get it and agree in principal... I just have my limits :whoa:.

I think that's why black folk can't get down with the movement and I completely understand.

At the end of the day, I just wanna work my 9-5 and retire to sit on my ass :francis:.

I think that historically so called progressive politicians have done little to nothing for black people

I think the so called Affirmative action and policies like that were supposed to help, but ended up hurting....... Most black individuals care little about environmental and homosexual issues.

I would consider the Legal weed as progressive, but the GOP governors are approving it

Uh yeah. In a country that don't want us around, its the lesser of two evils.

Abraham Lincoln was Republican tho

Democrats were the ones trying to keep slavery around

I'm not super well versed in politics so I could be wrong but I'd say the face turn for Democrats prolly started with Kennedy because he seemed like a genuinely good person

But yea the same way blacks feel about Democrats in 2017 is how our great great whatevers felt about Republicans in 1917

Yes and it pisses me off. Blacks are the most loyal base the DNC has. Now I'm not saying go at and vote Republican but it'd be nice to have to be courtesy by both sides. Asians and Latinos get this privilege and as a result see move favorable legislation.

Blacks called bill Clinton "the first black president" :gucci:

How'd that crime bill turn out for the men?

Hillary Clinton tried to win more black voters, not with policy positions beneficial to our communities but with Jay Z and Beyonce concerts to promote her campaign :dahell: (it was at that moment I knew I definitely wasn't voting, I found it incredibly insulting. That and her going on Power 105 and saying she carries hot sauce everywhere )

Democrats take the black vote for granted because they can. They know we'll be happy with whatever crumbs and lip service they pay us every couple years.

I'm saying, let's not limit ourselves in terms of furthering our agenda. No matter how "different" you think you are from somebody, there is almost always some common ground you can find, unless one of you is a complete psychopath.

I'm deep in :mjpls: country for work, and I do a shytload of consulting for an orthodox Jew... we all get along and more forward because we help each other get money. I don't really care what their politics are or if they even like me.... because at the end of the day everyone likes people who help line their pockets. Thats the kind of strategic thinking black people need to apply to politics.

2020 is a big year because the districts are getting redrawn and odds are high there will be some GOP legislatures with the pen and paper in hand. Instead of getting even further gerrymandered and disenfranchised I think it would behoove black people to link up and show interest. Then when the maps get more fair we Trojan horse them and pit them against the Dems to get what we want. Key is to go after moderates... nutjobs like the Freedom Caucus are the psycho racist elements of the GOP everyone believes to be the whole thing. But that's not the case. There are Republicans willing to play ball.
