On a local level, yes. From what I've seen Democrats on a local level have been more involved in the matters I care most about.

On a national level, it's a case by case basis. I didn't vote for Kerry because he didn't strike me as the type of person I wanted running the country. I wouldn't have voted for Hillary except for the fact that she was running against the devil incarnate.
