The Plains go through both the midwest and south just like how the Appalachian Mountains covers both the NE and South.
Oklahoma is just a state in the south. There is nothing confusing about this.

I've always considered Oklahoma a frontier state due to The Trail Of Tears, and The Dust Bowl.
I think to say southern or midwestern misses that point.

As someone who has lived in Georgia my whole life and went to college in Alabama, I always considered the south Florida, SC, NC, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia & Tennessee
