Do NBA capable players based abroad get more money there?

I've been wondering about this. Why do so many players that play abroad never come to the NBA, even tho they've been drafted, that could at least be role players on good teams.

Some players do very well overseas. Sometimes it comes down to: would you rather get paid something like 3 mill a year to sit on a bench here in the NBA...or 3 mill in a country where the cost of living is much less and you're a star on the team.

Also depends on personality, some players can adapt to living in a foreign country while others can't.

I read that Kobe's father was like the Magic Johnson of Italy. The reason he left the NBA in the 70's, is cause the league wasn't trying to see a 6'10 dude bringing the ball down and setting up the offense, which is what Joe Bryant's skill-set consisted of. He was like fuk that...went to Europe and became a star. No coincidence that Kobe is one of the most fundamentally sound players to ever play the game. They big on drilling fundamentals in Europe.

they set you up in free living quarters and the only thing you really pay for is entertainment

this was when these foreign leagues were trying to attract american basketball players and the native players werent taxed either

Yeah, I heard you get free housing, transportation and schooling for your kids. If you're a mid level NBA player like a Sonny Weems or Josh Childress, you're gonna eat well over there

I played overseas a few years ago,,,some of those cats were caking big time..Its sort of like an ego thing for some because they get the same treatment as NBA stars. On the other hand, some just can resist the NBA life. My homeboy used to play for the Bulls...got dropped and refused to go overseas...so he went to the NBDL.

I mean, each player and situation is completely different. If I'm from Spain...and I could be a god in Spain and make 3 mil a year...or be a 4th option on a US team and make 5 mil a year....I dunno what I would do.

Some reasons are for money.

Some reasons are for stardom.

Some reasons are for playing time.

Some reasons are to be closer to your family.

Some reasons are political.

Theres no one size fits all reason why someone would decide to play in another league besides the NBA.

You still don't get taxed, got fam that played over there for years

Something still sounds off. You tellin me all americans that play ball in euro/asian countries are getting paid 100% tax free?
