so this means i still listen to him??? :what:

its just a shame how bad he fell off...i used to be a huge fan

im not following your logic

I'm just wondering... If you stopped listening to him in 03, why would you care or continue to discuss anything about how he is now?

To me, it would make sense to just listen to the stuff you liked from said artist, and keep it moving, as obviously nothing is gonna change to you.

Maybe I'm just crazy though.

It has to reflect some form of self-hate and jealously hating on them. They music artists, if you don't like just skip.

It's one thing to rap from the rich perspective. It's another thing to shyt on everyone not as rich. Then purposely name shyt nobody wants, just so you can say you can afford it.

Take the "lay up" remix. While everyone is rapping bout a girl. They might throw in the suite, the mansion, the yacht.

Here comes jay z to rifle off who he knows personally for 8-12 bars. That's some uppity shyt. Not even naming some labels he owns. He got to let you know he knows the owners. And that's what he's supposed to be telling this girl to get her to lay up with him. "Baby I know famous people and I can introduce you"

He wasn't doing all that before. It's like ever since the black album, he's been trying to prove why he's so great. Instead of before, when he was just great

The logic is that you said that you stopped fukking with him 10 years ago, but still listen to all his songs, freestyles, discuss all his songs and music. Follow his current musical process throughly and on. At least on this site.

It's logical to not understand the logics behind how you move cause it's completely illogical.

Not to sound cliche, but it's for no other reason than they're successful. People find pretension in everything a successful person does that they can't or wouldn't. It's the nature of the beast. I guess you have to decide for yourself. I think Sean Penn is terribly pretentious and he helps thousands of people every day. I dunno.

What? Jay-z has always been talking about his current events in life. He's actually on big yachts and Island hopping etc. When he was in the streets he talked about that, boardroom; talks about it, yachts; talks about it, children; talks about it and the list is long. So essentially your problem with Jay-z is that he's too successful and stacks to many wins.

His two latest album BP3 and AG were probably his last braggadocios albums of all time. But just cause he said something about quail instead of some hood rich shyt, he was bragging. Bragging about being real, rich, intelligent and all that is all the same shyt to me, every rapper does it or has done it.

Talking about introducing girls to things has been done a billion times in hiphop, but when Jay does it in 2013 it's wrong? He's done it before as well.

You obviously missed my ENTIRE point. Jay always rapped about being rich. And even others on the same song rapped about rich things

My point is jay spitting bout which rich designers he really knows, for 8 straight bars (go listen to the song) is OD. It becomes less about telling YOUR story and life. And more about "nah nah naaaah nah naaaaaaah I know rich people so fukk me"

Where he used to slick talk "I was popping cristal when nikkas thought it was beer". It's now "I'm still made millions off you fukking dweebs". What dweebs? Your fans nikka? You not styling on rappers no more. Kinda sounds like you coming right at your own damn fans

Listen to reasonable doubt or even the blueprint. That is NOT the same style of rich rapping as he does now. It's like now he's spiteful with it

And to add on. I still fukk with hov. Heavy. You won't find an album or song of his I don't have. But I'm explaining why OTHERS would get that feeling.

There's telling a story, there's bragging bout a story, and then there's rubbing it all in your face. I feel like they both now rub your face in their richness and walk around with their nose up to anyone doing less.

But fukk it. They make great music so I don't care

1.
He said "I made million of it, you fukking dweebs". You fukking dweebs the ones saying that he was an imaginary owner of the Nets.

2.
He's saying to this girl that he can introduce her to a few designers he knows,
he couldn't say that in 2001 or 1996 cause he didn't know them. Instead he said he could take them on 1st class flights to exotic places and whatever he could do back then. Now he's financial status is on higher level, so naturally he can do higher level shyt.

How is taking a broad on flights and letting her taste some cris different from introducing her (obviously in love with fashion) to designers?
The fact that he's stretching the string of designers, is obviously a technical thing. Rhyming designers with designers and their brands.

I can't hate on a dude who came up rapping about his life and keeping it on that track, adjusting his lyrics to how his life evolves.

Neither could I. Which is why I don't hate on him. But could you not see how some others, might keep hearing this shyt, and think "fukk this, this is too much"

People love the underdog. The come up. The other rappers, who no matter how rich they are, still rap like they dealing drugs or out on the block

Maybe I used the wrong words. He's unrelatable. Yes I made up that word. But people can't relate to that. Fans can't relate to that. They can relate to buying a button up. They can relate to popping a bottle. They can relate to taking a trip. Maybe not close to his level. But this would be like bill gates rapping. Who wants to hear that shyt. Rich man tales. Day in and out.

Why you think the highest rated of all his albums, are always the ones where he's on some hood shyt. RD, AG, BP1. And the worst rated. By fans. WTT and KC. Cause fans relate less to being half a billy than normal nikka shyt

I'm not saying its right, I'm just answering the question

BP3 and Vol.3 have generally been his lowest rated and I think BP3 is the most relatable or least "unrelateable" after BP1. And WTT was generally quite highly rated, even a classic to many of his fans. The negative criticism from what I remember regarding that album (wtt) was generally from cac journalists writing articles about them not having respect for peoples mortgages failing and shyt (which was ironic seeing how they didn't care before cacs were hurting).

I can't relate to anything Jay-z does, but on a scale it's just as relatable today as it ever was. I can relate to the thought process of enjoying fine dining over sending shots and nikkas. But I can also relate to the thoughts behind some of the songs on RD. I can relate to that it's feels a lot more ballin when I purchase relatively expensive furniture, than having chains.

Obviously everyone don't feel the same way, some cats enjoy hearing hood rich tails. Some prefer just hearing good music regardless of financial status, I belong to the latter. I'm not trying to relate to the actions, I'm trying to relate to the thought process.

Also I don't think we should judge Jay of Maybach Music Group features.
WTT had a theme it was black excellence, AG had it's theme, BP3 was just random.
3 different albums about completely different things. When his next album drops, that's when I'll see where he's at musically.
Flow wise, lyrically he's still got it imo which WTT and a few of these features has proved but if he's able to make fresh and original music is still a question mark.

But you won't get away from it, as long as Jay-z keeps on rapping about his life (and not trying to exclude 90% of it) as he's done since the early 90s. You will hear about deals, designers, $$$ and on. I wanna hear him rap about other people or be a narrator like American Gangster or be a critic/commentator of different things but I can't demand too much of a mid 40s artist at this point.
