I must admit.. only about 10 percent of the advice I give is actually beneficial to help the person who is asking as I do enjoy trolling . most of the time my advice boils down to detach from your emotions and walk through the mountain. prolly not a long term option but it helped me :manny:. and for the people that don't listen to your advice, why do you think that is?

If you give advice and a person doesn't listen, maybe the think you're unqualified to give the advice, maybe they believe they have a better option.
On the other side of @Matt504 's suggestion: If from an empirical standpoint their way of going about accomplishing something isn't working but yours is, then they probably just like to hear the sound of their voice.
I thank yall for responding in a prompt manner this early morning.

Does over qualification play a part in some instances? In the way that Warren Buffet offers advice on a variety of monetary situations, but many people pass it over because of who he is.

Should an active listening class be created and taught in school every year starting with first grade?

Nah it doesn't. If you truly have mastered something and are qualified to speak on it...you can make it so easy to understand that a child will comprehend it. Take Niel deGrasse Tyson for instance; he's an astrophysicist who hosted Cosmos and not only made the concept of time and space easy to understand but also engaging/entertaining.

On the other hand, look at the 2008 collapse...people pretty much took all of those 10 syllable words that those on Wall Street were using to "explain" what a CDO is when in reality it was just a steamy pile of donkey shyt wrapped up in a nice gift box and people just entrusted them based on this false sense of security. AAA my ass.

nope...

1. i try to tell young black men and even older ones about putting they money together and form a business ( i.e. trucking company by buying a semi truck and a trailer get a USDOT/MOTOR CARRIER NUMBER and get some contracts to haul products until they can get enough contracts and be able to branch out solo ) .... they all told me :camby: i can't trust a nikka..... i do business insurance and man these mexican dudes roll up to my spot hand to hand to get insurance and within a year or so i'm re doing their policies because they branch out on their own with their own LLC

2. i try telling blacks about the ACORNS APP and i say u can earn money by just this simple app... i started my account with 20 dollars and within 2 months my shyt jumped up to 100 dollars... but once again :camby:

3. i used to try to help young black/latino girls/boys at the community center about not joining gangs... the girls comprehended as usual, but the boys was like :camby:.... living in a city with popular young rappers ( kendrick, schoolboy, YG, etc, etc ) who has more influence on these guys and the images of cars, money and light skinned/asian chicks these young dudes want that lifestyle... plus these kids come from households where they daddy was big time gang members, dope boys and mama's are hoes so they latched on to what they was borned into

I think that there's a bonafide problem with the average attention span nonetheless. @Matt504 was admonishing a few nikkas the other day for supposedly typing essays when it was a few paragraphs.

I give good advice and can say about 50% of the time it is listened to in the moment. People want to do, what they want to do. Most the time when people ask for advice they already know what they are going to do and they want you to co-sign them. Sometimes they want you to talk them out of it but some of the best advice are things they don't want to hear.

I have had people have to learn the hard way and come back and say, "you were right." If it's someone in your circle you know who is going to listen and who you are wasting you words on. That's annoying.

If a person's decision whether or not to take someone is based on how qualified a person is to lend that advice then I'd image that over qualification shouldn't hurt. People who pass on Warren Buffet's advice don't pass because he's "over qualified".

A believe all the work and progress a child makes in an active listening class would be lost as soon as they got home UNLESS their parents supplemented that class with guidelines at home. If that child can come home and throw on the television while playing on his iPhone instead of being required to spend 30 minutes to an hour every day reading, the class would be a waste and he'd eventually grow an aversion to focusing on one thing at a time.
