Do people simply expect too much from one another?

In a world where people will do what they can get away with, why do we expect others to go above and beyond ever? We all have higher expectations of people and when it isn't met we look at it through various lenses here but couldn't it be the nature of some people?

Because people put hope and faith into others to cover up the holes in their lives. We all just want to feel liked/visible in a world filled with narcissism/greed.
I learned a long time ago placing expectations on anybody will ultimately lead to heart break. Accept people for who they are, enjoy the moment and if things go sideways either work through it or walk away but still love you.

Basically. My girl be ready to write every person off over the most nonsense reasons. She expects everybody to reach out and openly give a fukk and lets that shyt bother her every day. She always on some shyt about how people suck and arent trustworthy...

And i agree with her on that...but i dont let people and their BS bother me. I have way happier days because I choose to ruin my own day if its gonna get ruined. I dont have expectations for anybody but myself. The more you expect/want, the more you get let down/less you get.

this is the truth, alot of relationships are simply destroyed because the spouse was expecting them to fill a void that they couldnt do themselves and when the expectation isnt met, they lose it!

A lot of people subconsciously expect other people to feel the way they do about situations. We gauge people through the lens of our own experiences. Its all about managing your expectations. Understanding that your 100% is not the next persons 100%.

Yes we do. We just try to get the most out of others. Same as what we expect from ourselves. However some of us are selfish and want it more. That leads to all types of mind acrobatics to get what you want.
