Depends on the company. MSP's will certainly ask for proof. I think they get their status as a 'gold' or 'silver' partner based on the number of certified employees they have.

Depends on the company. Experience is usually accepted anyway if you don't have the certs (I don't do certs... but I have 16yrs experience - when asked I usually say "Obviously I go on courses to keep my knowledge current, but I've been too busy actually working with the technology to take an exam")... just landed myself a new gig with a tier one bank off the experience and they WOULD have checked if I'd said I had any certs apparently, so low-key glad I just kept it honest.

got humbled so quick one time during a tech interview

I listed i knew what a hyper-v was on my resume and they called me out so quick since they knew I was just getting into the field

Paid 2 tolls and drove 50min just to get embarrassed

They ask you questions if it's tech job, they give you quizzes to see how advanced you know how to code or if you are bullshytting.
