Do typically family got ur back before anyone else

That used to be the case, but we’ve gone so far into this assimilation into “Western culture” that we don’t value our kinfolk nearly as much as we used to just a couple decades ago...

The real target has always been disrupting the black family structure, which was our real source of strength.

1000% true...family will ALWAYS have your back...I can’t think of a single situation where someone’s friends supported them more than family did

never understood what 'water' meant in this phrase :dead:

People misuse this saying because it actually means the opposite. The full quote is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb", which has it's origins in the Bible. It basically says the relationship I have with someone that I have an agreement with (a covenant) is stronger than a biological sibling. Hence, where the words "blood brothers" comes from, when men who share the same experiences and create a pact (e.g. soldiers in a platoon/squad during wartime) become closer than the men they are related to ...over time the words has been lost in translation into the phrase we know of today. :yeshrug:

Yeah the family who you grew up with at least

Familiarity over time, they’d help you cuz they’re familiar with you and know you well

And a lot of people feel obligated cuz they’re family too

Man I feel you but I also feel trapped by some of these mfers

You grew up with them nikkas huh you stuck with them nikkas huh

But at the same time I think completely separating yourself from family forever is cacery unless they really harmed you. But I take my occasional breaks from everybody :hubie:

My family is BIGGGG, I see a new family member that I never met everytime I’m out:mjlol:

So family kinda lost that specialness to me cuz everybody’s related to me and I don’t even know 90% of em. Mfs I don’t even know or barely know tryna play that “I’m your cousin” card :francis:

I only really associate with my grandma and her offspring and some of my second cousins
