You don't really need to make alliances, just don't make any enemies. Now prison may be different because it's way more segregated. Also, a lot of nikkas get cool with the bunky (bunk mate) If you lucky, your first night in, your bunky will put you up on game about the little prisoner rules and shyt. But some nikkas will get a new bunky and look at that nikka as food. Telling him wrong shyt to set him up, hitting licks on his commissary and shyt
Edit- But you still will probably end up fighting if you don't know anyone

That's why I hate jail, nikkas don't wanna do nothing but beef and fight. You can't escape it. Them nikkas live for that shyt. Then they wanna get in a huddle and hold hands and pray every night

Hell no at the first part. And to the second question, it depends. If you look like a victim, than hell yea, somebody will try and test you quick. But if you look like you can handle yourself you'll be cool. But don't get me wrong, you will get tested at least once eventually. Everyone does. A nikka tried to phone check me

my uncle told me a young nikka he grew up with...that was notorious for beating nikkas da fukk up came into prison wilding...breaking necks, g-checking nikkas daily. Until one day he tried a lil short old man ova some commissary and the old man choked him out and broke his spine
the old nikka had the young nikka on
