If anything made me yawn it was that weedplate Rocky last put out.
Compare TPAB and ALLA. It's brutal.
ALLA is 10000000x the album tpab is

Alla has 0 weak moments meanwhile half of tpab is just the same annoying skit with a cringe tupac interview at the end

This is a modern day classic. Notice the numerous songs on the project that had America rocking.
Can't call kendrick's albums classic cause the media told you too. If you notice, lil to none of his songs meant anything. Meanwhile you can go back trough multiple real classic albums and point out songs that were really rocking the country

Meanwhile you're calling Drake's album a classic because it was popular ? :patrice:

Listen to Take Care again, 70% of it is unbearable. Drake doesn't have a classic album and he'll never have one because he's a single-machine (and a modern day popstar).

Kendrick puts thought into his projects and comes up with actual concepts to follow throughout the albums.

Meanwhile, Drake put Views out which he alledgedly put his heart and soul into, and it turned out to be a bad rap album with a few good R&B songs and no significant message or standout track.

you don't get it some artists or albums are popular via media outlets. Meaning powerful media figures tell you over and over that THIS IS THE ALBUM OR THEE ARTIST TO WATCH. But you also have REAL CLASSICS that you couldn't go anywhere without hearing. Kendrick doesn't have ANY PROJECTS that dominated clubs, streets, trunksetc. Drake has many

Kendrick doesn't make music that dominates clubs, how do you not get it, seriously.

Drake has many
Drake is a pop star, of course he gets played, in fact, he sells way way way more than Kendrick does, but guess what, he still doesn't have a single classic album because he doesn't make good ALBUMS, he makes good SONGS.

The point is Kendrick dominates NOTHING and good songs make good albums. Kendrick has SO CALLED GOOD ALBUMS but not the songs to back that claim up. Cause it's false claim

GKMC sure for. I don't like calling anything classic a year after release so while I love TPAB I'm not calling it classic. It'll be interesting to see if it has any impact on hip hop going forward. I doubt we're going to really see instrumentation or jazz rap make a major comeback.

That being said TPAB's impact on jazz as a genre is undeniable. It's having quite a revival, especially the LA scene.
Nah. Thundercat, Flylo and Kamasi Washington been popping for a minute. Even back in 2009 Flying Lotus was working with live jazz musicians on his shyt.

Kendrick just introduced them to mainstream audiences

That's typically how impact works in music breh. The album came out at the perfect time and helped launch Washington and Terrace Martin to higher heights than they've been before. Likewise the bubbling LA scene is now booming (by jazz standards).

Washington played Coachella last month. Terrace Martin was at the White House this month for jazz day. I don't think it's crazy to suggest Butterfly got this ball rolling.

Also the re-emergence of vinyl has played a big role in jazz's revival. Really cool to see.

I can dig that. TPAB definitely opened up some doors for the casual fan
