Actually why are trying to say black can't make our own alt coins when there aw multiple altcoins that are collectively worth over 500 millions some are Russian based some are us? Yet a black based coin would be worth nothing

Don't twist my words. You can go ahead with you experiment and it may very well "succeed" for some time as in you might be able to create some kind of "market" for you black coin. My point is that this is not a valuable venture in the long term. Are you trying to build a sustainable market that can empower its participants or a speculative one where they are the mercy of pump and dumps? Are you suggesting that current altcoins offer some kind of interesting value proposition?

Some do, such as Namecoins or Monero because they serve a different purpose than BTC. Any other copycat is exactly that, a pale clone that exists only because of speculators and serve no real purpose than diluting capital that should be concentrated into Bitcoin

It's an investment asset. Just like gold it has a limited supply and so its price will theoretically increase with the demand

Yeah I know that it's considered an asset. Forget brainsavy he's to ignorant and doesn't understand that there are big companies backing Bitcoin. I wanna know how can I accumulate bit coins as a college student.

There really are no other ways than to buy a little bit everytime you have liquidity available that you are comfortable enough to invest into a high-risk investment.

That's what I do. I have a certain percentage of my earnings that I use every weeks to buy Bitcoins

Is there a limit to how much you can buy per transaction? are there fees ?

There are no limits. I believe Coinbase charges a 1% fee and Circle is actually free. You might have to pay a minor fee for ACH bank transfer to your account. As far as I know there are no limits to purchase

@heisenburrr how many bitcoins you sittin on? About how many would you recommend someone looking to start out buying?

I won't specify the exact amount but let's say between 10-100.

I would recommend that you buy as much as you are comfortable with. Everyone has different risk profiles and tolerance so it really depends on your situation

I don't think this is necessary. Bitcoin and some altcoins are already being used in some African countries. In fact, using a crypto-currency in those countries is better than using their legal tender for many reasons (i.e.: wealth concentrated at the top, unreasonable taxes, easier to do business, political corruption, etc.)

There's big companies backing all these coins. Even heisenburr will admit that

how many altcoins have been released in the last 30 days alone?
NEARLY 100 :beli:

i am all for biz ideas but this is waaaaaaay played out
walking around picking up aluminum cans would be a better use of time

a smart idea would be to sell shovels and blue jeans to all the miners :usure:
but that is deep pockets stuff

But as a person who obviously makes a some kind of money on coins. Why would you not support an altcoin which has been proven ten fold that they make money? And if you did support it why would you not want to be apart of a black backed operation?
People sometimes are scared to not c00n.

Same reason we dont have many black owned banks in the world. We are nervous calling anything black.

Your idea is great because at least our money would circulate between us.
