I think their just delusional and think that nothing bad can happen to them. Plus a lot of movies, tv shows, documentaries, and other peoples experiences have white people believing they can just go over to different countries and be automatically excepted has got them delusional. I was on Miami Beach once and there was a whole family of Hispanic kids. There were at least 15. They were playing in the water and having the time of their lives.
As we are sitting there a Black family walks up with one little boy. He tries to run into the water and everytime he tries his mother holds him back. She does not even go into the water with him. She just stands there on the beach holding him back and looking at the water and the other children play. He never gets into the water.
That vowed neither the mother nor the son would ever be me.

Sounds exactly what my mother would do.
Not sure if it's a black thing or a west indies thing. My mom is the same way. As a kid I never went outside unless it was to school or church. I didn't have much of a social life so I played alot of video games. It kinda fukked me up mentally/socially. If I had kids I wouldn't do that to them.

I think one msut also understand that tourism/travelling is much more a cultural thing with Western/White people in general. It's a normal activity for them, nothing special really. Obviously it comes with having more means, but not only :I don't know how it is in the US, but in Europe one can easily travel/volunteer with not that much money. When I went to Italy for some voluntary work (I was 25, so a lil older) all my white friends were like "Cool!" and sharing their own experiences, while damn near all Black friends were like "Why?"
I know lots of white people who have done volunteering work, studied, worked etc abroad, and often starting at a young age, like 16-17.
White people are more LEGALLY protected indeed I would say, but in everyday life I'd say that's not really the case. Again from my own experience nothing ever happened to those few Black friends I have who do travel (Brazil, Colombia, India, Sri Lanka, various parts of Europe and Africa), the only ones who had shyt happen to them (not much either) were White. I think Black people can be HATED (i.e you run in some racist fukks, bad luck) but "regular" trouble makers don't really test Black people like that imo

Regarding the second part, and this is strictly based on what I've heard/seen, White people tend to be either too much "touristy" or too much "I wanna discover your culture" and can show way too much confidence in total strangers. Either way you're showing even more how foreign you are, and can be turned into a prey. And yeah some White people push the "experience" too far and want a "I got totally drunk and have no idea where I woke up" story when they get back that they might end up in some shyt. I think Black people tend to navigate through those situations better.

In my family the mothers are very fearful and protective of their kids. Thankfully that fear wasn't passed to me. The world is our home, if you want to explore it you should. To me it's not a race thing but a fear thing.
