I swear, some of y'all should stop watching wrestling if it frustrates you this much. Of course there are gimmicks, just cause it doesn't excite you like it did when you were 11, everything's wrong :russ:
Why are you caping? OP's plight isn't legitimate?

You really feelin these new 'gimmicks'?

The average person is not aware of that. Finn Balor just sounds like a jobber name.

Also the demon king moniker doesn't inform anything about him as a character or a wrestler. All it does is inform his entrance.

:yeshrug:
I know it sounds stupid cuz the OG meaning but I wish they could call him Demon Balor or something

The name "Finn" just sounds stupid

Ahhhh... disagreeing = capin'... gotta love message board jargon...

There's gimmicks I like, some I don't... it IS possible to do both. What y'all want shyt to go back to where there's a garbageman, a hockey guy, a plumber, a dentist, shyt like that? it's just unrealistic to say nobody has a gimmick when there's clearly many who do. Just cause they're not all over the top doesn't mean they don't exist...

What was Bret Hart's gimmick... he wore pink? What was Owen's gimmick? Benoit's gimmick? Booker T's gimmick? British Bulldog- being British?

you don't know bret hart's gimmick? :dahell:

bret 'the hitman' hart. the excellence of execution. finishing move the sharpshooter. his claim was that of the being the best technical wrestler.

and even when the wrestlers didn't rely as much on a gimmick per se, they were still more developed characters. booker T had his own style, his own swag, his own catchphrases, his own unique theme, moves and taunts.

the majority of the current characters are generic and underdeveloped. if you're here to argue otherwise i don't know what show you're watching. doesn't mean we hate the show, these are just the facts. but good for you though since you're probably enjoying the show more than most of us.

I think what u wanna say is none of the wrestlers are truly "larger than life"

Most of the 80's OG's were roided up, mullet wearing buff guys with coked up charisma (ala Warrior, Macho, Hogan, etc)

Nowadays, look at NXT, most of these new guys and girls are nerds, female Athletic anime geeks, HS wrestlers, athletic video game players, etc cacs who were molded in the NXT developmental to be cookie cutter robots and thats why none of them pan out.

Thats why neckbeards hold onto Indy foreign stars so tightly because thats all we got.

Like I said, there's stuff I like and some I don't... if there's something strange about that to you, I can't tell you what to do about that.

Yeah, I know what Bret Hart's deal was- that said, it wasn't an over-the-top gimmick. It was his character in wordplay only- it wasn't like he was out there acting like a hired hitman from the mob or some shyt. And that's what I seem to get from the premise of this thread that every wrestler without a super-defined gimmick doesn't have a gimmick at all.

Bray Wyatt's character is nothing like The New Day, which is nothing like Rusev's, which is nothing like Balor's, which is nothing like Ambrose's, which isn't like Miz's, which isn't like Enzo & Cass, which isn't like Cesaro's... these are all distinctive characters who aren't interchangeable with each other. There are some bland/uninteresting dudes on the rosters of course, most of which probably aren't prominently featured for that same reason, but to say there's no gimmicks isn't true... liking them or not is a matter of choice/opinion.
