Do y'all think Lauri Markannen has higher offensive potential than KP?

I don't think Markannen will ever catch up to Porzingis defensively but offensively I think its debatable. KP himself feels like Lauri is further along than him at the same age.

I'm impressed by his fluidity and athleticism, he handles the ball nicely in the open floor, and he doesn't rely on the midrange game as much as KP. Lauri is averaging 6.4 3PT attempts per game this season (7.8 per 36 minutes). That is more so the range KP should be at. Lauri has also been finishing better at the rim than KP this season.

Lauri is thin but his frame is noticeably more well-built and looks like he can support a lot more weight, his arms have a lot more definition than KP. :dame:

What y'all think KP has been slumping lately, there's factors to it that go beyond him but it's got me thinking.

I was a huge Lauri supporter for his offensive talent heading into the draft, his offensive potential is definitely not as high as KP's.
I just got my concerns, I'm a Knicks fan and I fukk with KP heavy. To me his ceiling is what he was doing to start the season, I think at his peak he can be an unstoppable player a guy who can give you 28-30 a night on 50/40/90, a 7'3 guy who could stretch the floor 30 feet. But I got my concerns...

-relies on the midrange and trying to sauce defenders too much, he thinks he can shoot over anyone in the midpost and its leading to low % shots, bad habits that he may have picked up from Melo, Knicks don't take enough threes
-weak base, teams can throw strong, undersized players like Marcus Smart and Thaddeus Young at him to lock him down, gets pushed around on boards, at 7'3 he struggles to do squat exercises
-stamina, seemingly gets gassed every year around this time
-potential for injuries down the line, this was a concern that Phil Jackson had with KP's long back, how long can a 7'3 human move like that, it's part of the reason he was trying to trade KP for Lonzo Ball
-KP is anemic and has struggled to put on weight, he's put on something every year but still isn't where he should be

Saw him in person last week against the WIzards. Had great seats too.

He didn't have a very good game but he looked natural. Nothing looked forced or hurried. Great potential as an offensive player.

No Porzingis is a top 5 NBA player level talent and also a defensive player of the year level talent...But that’s not to say that Lauri can’t be a star I just don’t see that high of a potential.

Don't think so. Markannen relies too much on his shot to be effective from inside of 17 feet, and he definitely doesn't have the post game that KP does
Lauri's still putting some things together offensively, but from watching just about every Bulls game, I'll say that he's not going to be a guy that has to be hitting 3s to be effective. He's good close to the basket, but he's not really getting too many touches on the block, or the times he does have a mismatch there the Bulls don't give him an entry pass.

When he gets a mismatch with a smaller guy on him and he does get the rock, it's basically BBQ Chicken time cause he's pretty strong already and he attacks the rim hard.

It’s very likely that KP’s body will beset him before his skills

Yeah, he faces up and drives hard and I've seen him go coast to coast. Like I said as a rookie he's finishing better at the rim than KP in his third year. And in his prime he is gonna be brolic, kid has a great frame. He is way more cut than KP.
