Do y'all think rappers even read the papers before they sign a contract?

I think they do but you have to realize that labels target these young black kids who have a lot of hype but are still living in poverty. And these dudes just see it as their way out.
I'm not going to blame the young black poor kid living in the hood just trying to get out of poverty or their situation because they are desperate. It's the labels fault for taken advantage and signing these artists to slave contracts. Yes artists should learn about what they are signing but it's not that cut and dry.

These guys don't have any leverage though, so they've got no choice but to get fukked over. These are young kids who have a dream to rap and for the most part don't really have that many other options, they're just taking what they get. While you talking shyt about them, fact of the matter is the majority of people period - damn near all employees in this country - are getting fukked the same way, at least these guys are doing some shyt they like to do.

I just gonna come out and say it, most these guys read at a Floyd Mayweather level. Enter the bad relationships/contracts like the one mention above are what occur when weed, lean, coke, racism and poverty enter the equation.

Yea, but he only signed last year. So for a good 2 years Herb was independent. And Cinematic is also an independent label so it's not like he suddenly started getting funding from a major.

You gotta be the one looking out for yourself and your best interests. People are supposed to try and fukk you over for your money, its part of the game of life.. and your role is to protect your interests. Cant blame these labela for doing what they are known and designed to do.

better off being an indie artist these days by hiring some people to take care all of the internet promotion and setting up a Soundcloud instead of signing your life away to a contract that could basically keep you on the shelf for months better yet years. it's actually a good time for artists who are coming up. you can do all that yourself and have labels calling you demanding a solid deal. your best bet is to do all that shyt yourself.
